Collaboration

We didn’t even know we were chasing a dream when we started hustling, we knew that that was what we wanted to do for a living. We didn’t even know we could get paid for what we love doing, we just did what we did then because we had a passion for it, we never knew that we could call this a career, we never knew that chasing a dream could one day pay us and feed the family. Make people look up to you or even make people fear you and respect you even more.
We grew up and got deals from people who have seen more people from doing what we do, we loved that they put us up there. We looked up to them they brought the joy in us, they made us believe again.
What tricks me the most now is that we get excited to work with people that have already made it; it kind of makes us feel extraordinary and makes us be grateful for our work even more. Around the world they make it such a immense deal to have a collaboration with a big star, trust me I feel the same way about it because it is a big deal. Even though it can sometimes be slightly overstated to the point where we feel second-rate about craft, to a point where we feel as if they’ll always be bigger stars out there.
We are proud of these artists; we are glad they blew up and made it big in life. We would do so much to reach the heights that they’ve reached in their life. Why should smaller artists like you and I be viewed as mediocre when we stand next to such artists? We are constantly doubted and compared with the people that are at the top. Which confuses me the most is the mere fact that they too were once at our level, they were once nothing to the game and once begged for a feature.
Time and again they run these mesmerizing competitions where the prize is just a feature with a bigger star. Why should we continuously feel unacknowledged when it comes to international stars, they run these competitions to keep their name up high. They brand themselves using our talent.
They use these collaborations with the underdog to pay their bills; they take smaller artists and pretend to mould them in the way that they want. Publically mentioning that they helped us blow up, that they were there to hold our hand all the times, when the real truth is the people that were in our lives are the people that helped us be where we are today are our families, friends and you reading this. Those are the people we ought to thank all the time for what we have archived in life.
Truth be told, we should seize the opportunity given, we should thank the artists that put us up there, the people that give us the free platform.
We owe our success to our day ones.
