We are human

We do not choose who we fear, we do not choose who we trust maybe that’s why we are human –

You went out with your friends to play some rugby, got tackled, saw your own blood which brought tears into your eyes.

You went out shopping with some of your friends, saw the girl of your dreams, she walked passed you, you wanted to say ‘hello’ but got nervous and kept your feelings to yourself, you were in love with someone you just met.

Throughout our lifespan we are constantly amazed by what we encounter more than what we’ve planned, the times you were lost travelling to your holiday, the moments you thought you’d never see sight of your destination. That moment of relief when you’ve managed to pull through your tribulations, that moment you were star struck and could barely say a simple ‘hello’ and that moment of belief we’ve all been through when we thought we’ve failed but discover we’ve made it.

We do not choose these moments in our lives, we do not plan to love, get lost or even bother to care about anyone other than ourselves. These moments come to us as surprise; unexpected moments like these give our destination meaning and worth.

If we had the audacity to choose what we feared, what we loved and what we cared for... we wouldn’t be as human as we are right now. We’d live with no sorrow and regret, with no love and laughter and certainly with no journey and destination.
