Impaired Vision

We live in an era where society predicts having wealth will bring you the utmost happiness, society has become visually impaired. With a deceiving pediment we’ve been taught to seek wealth for the mere fact that it ought to put smiles on our faces. Our parents educate us to seek a stable career in order to support ourselves. “This will bring you joy...”
They gather in groups discussing our future but won’t even bother to ask if we are in need of their help; with our lives drawn on boards what good is our opinion to them? When we give our mind a voice we seem to clatter bridges, when we have the courage to grasp our careers we perceive conversations become shorter and we foresee cold shoulders.
We’re taught to trust family even though family seems to hurt us the most, we’re taught to respect family even though family keeps looking down on us and we’re taught to love family even though family tends to think about their lives and theirs only. With so little needed for us to become successful we doubt family will ever give us a hand but they’ll be the first to reach out when we’ve made it. “We’ve always been there for him...”
So close to reaching goals, if only they could help... can’t count the number of times I asked for help but was left hanging... but they’re family we have to stick with them forever because they are the ‘real’ ones we have.
