A side you haven't seen

Earlier today I went to unwind at this other coffee shop; I had my double shot of espresso when suddenly a black lady and a white lady walk side-by-side. Showing the South African side which media fails to show; the side where love is love and kindness is kindness and the side where no rumour is true.

My waitress comes back to check on me, she says “If you need anything go to Christine” she points at Christine to make sure we’re on the same page. To confirm that we were I gazed at Christine and asked “Christine is that white person?” from my side of the story what I said had no harm but she began giggling as a sign of telling me that there was a bit of hatred in my question.

At times we tend to give racism meaning and worth; we tend to give hatred power by means of what we say or how we say it.

I’m black, I bump into white people, I bump into Indian people, I bump into coloured people and I bump into black people. (In South Africa saying ‘coloured people’ isn’t racist) I live on grounds media fails to reach, the beautiful South African side where love is love and where kindness is kindness.
