How unfortunate how we’re too eager to verbalise our ambitions with every single person we lay our trust on before we execute them, how unfortunate that we’re all about exploring the world without even considering the cost for the trip and how unfortunate that we’re in competition with individuals who aren’t even in our field. We’re constantly bringing ourselves down while we elevate individuals who aren’t even bothered whether we live or die. Tempted to bottle our emotions, writing letters praying the other side receives the message instead of working towards a goal; maybe the other side isn’t green at all, it could be that the other side gazes how we keep flourishing every season. Have we considered how well we’re doing or are we only doing well in order to be considered?

Transporting empty promises to ourselves; breaking our own hearts in order to see others smile, neglecting our own craft for a mere smile. We’re constantly hearing our hearts break but too concerned on opinions that couldn’t even give us a single rand in return.

We’re happy that friends we grew up with are becoming better, we’re proud as if they were related to us and our hearts melt when we’re told about their accomplishments. We pray we never view them as celebrities but we pray we always treat them as friends...

Most of the people I grew up with are shining, these are mostly the rugby players who are proving they are chasing their dreams by the day and proving they are rebuilding themselves by the night merely because we’ve been treating them differently.

South Africa, Barberton. We’re all playing a strong role in putting our hometown on the map.
